Trustees
The following individuals are currently Trustees of Families' House. The year of their appointment is after their name.
David Wright (Chair) (featured at the back, second from the right) (2007) - David is the retired Former Director of Social Services, Norfolk County Council. Although retired from full time employment David enjoys an active life on various
Boards including the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals now Foundation Trust and the Norfolk Community Foundation. Nationally he is Chair of the Crossroads Association and locally the Priscilla Bacon Lodge Support Group. He is a Vice Patron of Norfolk Community Foundation and Patron of Norfolk and Norwich MIND.
Christopher Dugdale (Treasurer and Company Secretary) (1999) - a chartered accountant, is a partner with M & A Partners. He supervises the preparation of the Annual Accounts for external audit.
Chris Hull (1994) - is a social worker working in adoption. Chris has also been a County Councillor.
Sarah Blount (2003) - is the Chair of Norfolk Magistrates' Family Panel. Sarah holds an LLM in Family Justice Studies from the University of East Anglia School of Law.
Peter Lamble (featured at the back, second from the left) (1994) - is the Chair of Start-rite Shoes.
Dr Kanakavalli Rao Bethapudy (featured at the front, on the right)
(2008) - is a retired Senior Community Paediatrician and works regularly in a leprosy mission in India with her husband. Currently she is employed as a part time lecturer within the University of East Anglia's Medical Department. She also teaches Indian cookery.
Chris Mitchell (featured first on the left) (2004) - is the Former Managing Director of John Lewis, Norwich. In a lifetime career with the company he headed up department stores in cities throughout the UK. Chris was the Chair of the Trustees between 2005 and 2008.
Marian Brandon (featured at the front, on the left) (2009) - is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Director of Post-qualifying Programmes (Children and Families) at the University of East Anglia. She worked as a residential and area team social worker before joining the UEA in 1987. Marion is a founder member of the International Association for Outcome-based Evaluation and Research on Family and Children's Services.
Sara Herschel-Shorland (featured first on the right) (2010) - owns "Insight Track" a marketing research company.
Ben Pearson - Family Law Specialist Solicitor with Hatch Brenner.
Staff
Suzanne Bryant - Director
Suzanne Bryant BA, MA in Social Work, Childcare Award, Certificate in Counselling, Adult Education Tutor, joined Families' House in September 2009. Suzanne previously worked for Norfolk Children's Services providing therapeutic support services and within the private and voluntary sector as a manager working with young people who experience eating disorders. Suzanne has an interest in the arts and has taught pottery and run children's art workshops.
Louise Richmond - Deputy Director
Louise Richmond BA Hons, MA, Professional Certificate in Management, joined Families' House in 2008. She previously worked in Special Educational Needs for Norfolk County Council, and as a Co-ordinator for Home-Start in Thetford. Prior to these posts she worked as a University Lecturer in Valencia, Spain and for the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development in Geneva, Switzerland, and WEETU in Norwich.
Dawn Martinson - Senior Social Worker / SPIP trainer
Dawn is a qualified primary school teacher, social worker and mediator. Dawn has been a Family Panel Magistrate, a Mental Health Review Tribunal member, a member of an advisory committee to the Ministry of Justice, and a Vice Chair of Norfolk Foster Panel. Her career has included posts as Children’s Services Team Manager, Guardian ad Litem, Manager of social work qualifying courses, and Anti-Social Behaviour Manager for Norwich City Council. Dawn's interests include Gilbert and Sullivan, Pinot Noir and being walked by a large labradoodle in rural Norfolk.
Joanne Westaway - Supervised Contact Worker
Joanne has worked as a contact supervisor for six years in London and Norfolk. She is currently volunteering as a family support worker for Families' House, alongside her role as a contact supervisor. Joanne's hobbies include spinning, walking and learning to play the piano.
Jacqui Harrison - Primary Mental Health Worker (Time for Me Project)
Jacqui joined Families' House on the 1st May 2012 as a qualified play therapist and social worker. She is an accredited family mediator and worked for many years as a Family Court Adviser and independent Guardian ad Litem.
Emma Cameron - Family Support Service Co-ordinator
Emma is an experienced teacher, working predominantly in non-mainstream environments delivering Arts and Personal Development courses. She has worked for over 20 years with vulnerable adults and young people with challenging behaviour and learning difficulties. This has included managing multi-agency projects with Children's Services, the Housing Department, Probation and other voluntary agencies.
Sarah Fong - Family Support Worker / SPIP trainer
BSc (Hons) Psychology, Certificate in Counselling plus teaching qualifications. Sarah lived in Asia for 18 years teaching in a variety of educational settings.
Amanda Derer - Parent Support Adviser
NNEB, TEFL, Management Studies Level 3, was previously employed as an outreach worker at a Children's Centre, a Nursery Manager and a Residential Social Worker.
Andrea Dunn - Parent Support Adviser
Andrea has undertaken administrative roles and holds administrative qualifications. She is currently studying with the Open University for a certificate in Health & Social Care. Andrea joined Families' House as a volunteer and was appointed to her current role in 2008.
Natasha Hall - Accounts Administrator
Natasha Hall AAT Level 2, joined us in 2004. Prior to working for Families' House Natasha was an Accounts Administrator for Greenways Garage. Natasha also works in Accounts for NEAD.
Sally Butler - PA to the Director
Sally joined Families' House in 2006 from the Norwich Magistrates' Court where she worked as a PA. Prior to that Sally worked as a PA in the Staff Office at John Lewis, Norwich, and before that spent almost twelve years working in Human Resources for the Royal Mail.
Karen Townsend - Social Work Assistant/Receptionist
Karen joined Families' House in 2004 as an experienced administrator from May Gurney and has previous experience in the Health Service.
Terry Pover - Great Yarmouth Supported Contact Centre Co-ordinator
Terry worked as a Police Officer, specialising in Liaison Work with Asylum Seekers, Travellers and Victims of Serious Crime. He has also worked with Romanian Orphans and supported training schemes for carers in Romania. Terry is also a professional photographers and holds photographic workshops for children with Special Needs. His hobbies include dog training, cookery and sport.
Beth Malone - Sessional Social Worker
Beth joined Families' House in May 2012 on a sessional basis.
Bev Arrand - Sessional Social Worker
Bev joined Families' House in November 2011 on a sessional basis.
