Norfolk and Norwich Families’ House is a registered charity, founded in 1994.

Our vision is to improve the quality of life in Norfolk for vulnerable children and their families by meeting their specific needs.

Our aims:

  • To provide services to children and families under stress which are not available to them from other sources.

  • To develop new initiatives in the provision of support and assistance to children and families under stress.

Our key services:

  • Family Support Service

The Volunteer Befriending Service is a well-established scheme, which offers support and friendship to families with young children aged 18 and under, who are finding it difficult to cope. It could be loneliness, depression, a child with special needs or parenting issues. Whatever the reason, our aim is to enable a family to overcome problems and difficulties. We do this by offering the support of a trained volunteer. More volunteers are always needed; full training is provided.

Parent Support Groups – we run the groups at Families’ House. The aim of the groups is to help reduce feelings of isolation in parents by providing them with reassurance, support and friendship.

  • Supervised Contact Service

Supervised Contact is ordered by the Courts when there is a medium to high risk to children following family breakdown. It is normally referred by the Family Court, Solicitors, CAFCASS, Social Services or other partner agencies.

We provide supervised contact in a neutral, comfortable environment, where children aged 18 and under can meet parents or other relatives from whom they are separated.
